"Biodiesel quality depends on of the oil quality where is produced; one of the main problems that diminish the quality is the unsaturated fatty acid degradation by oxidation. This process of degradation cannot be stopped, but the rate of oxidation can be decreased. The extraction method can affect the physical factors that favor the fatty acid degradation. In this work, we evaluated the effect of two extraction methods of J. curcas oil, one mechanical and one chemical, over the oxidative stability of the oil. The results shows that the chemical extraction method has a higher oxidation index, what implies a higher oil degradation, due to an own method characteristics, as the temperature above 60°C and light exposure." | |
